This eliminates the stress point that occurred on the old straight T-Zip on the Phantom Guide, and gives you a huge opening to get your foot into. Once you're in, a quicklace system locks the inner down, and is easy to operate even while wearing thick gloves. Weight has been trimmed from the sole with the use of a carbon fibre midsole and a much lighter foam/rubber material for much of the exposed outsole. Only the areas likely to be contacting rock are covered by Vibram's standard dense sticky rubber. All in all, the Phantom Tech is 15% lighter than its predecessor, making it one of the lightest mountaineering boots Scarpa have ever produced, and still retaining the protection needed for the harsh conditions of a Scottish winter.
